The Centre has begun preliminary discussions on bringing back E10 petrol alongside E20, especially for vehicles manufactured before April 2023, reported The Indian Express newspaper. The report comes days after Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran said that E10 should be provided alongside E20. Is this a move to bring back E10 petrol?
E20 Petrol Controversy: According to government regulations, vehicles manufactured in India starting in April 2023 will be designed to run on E20 fuel. However, the real concern is older vehicles manufactured before 2023. These vehicles are not yet very old, and the use of E20 fuel is already impacting them. Now, with discussions underway regarding the return of E10 petrol, there is hope for a new path for these older vehicles as well.
There is strong opposition to E20 petrol. Many have opened a protest against it. Now the government is preparing to take a big decision in this regard. The government can make E10 petrol available for old vehicles.
