Dying Light: The Beast Hands-On: Brutal Survival in a Zombie-Ridden Forest
CASTOR WOODS, JUL 21 – Techland’s standalone sequel returns Kyle Crane with new Beast Mode abilities and a brutal melee system in a zombie-infested open world inspired by Swiss landscapes.
- Techland, a Polish developer, will release Dying Light: The Beast on August 22, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
- The game follows Kyle Crane, the original protagonist, who was held in a bunker for over a decade and subjected to experiments that fused his DNA with zombies.
- Players explore the hostile open world of Castor Woods, fight mutated enemies including boss-like Chimeras, upgrade skills across two trees, and use Beast Mode to gain monstrous strength.
- A four-hour hands-on preview showed the game's dialed-up brutality, dynamic combat against agile enemies, and balanced co-op for up to four players, with progression shared among teammates.
- The Beast aims to recapture the horror and vulnerability of the first game while expanding player tools, and its story centers on Crane's bloody revenge against the warlord known as The Baron.
