Duralex succeeded in raising funds in record time: more than 5 million euros were promised in a few hours by nearly 8,000 investors to support the recovery of the Loiret glass factory, taken over by its employees in July 2024.
The cooperative has even received more promises of investment than the maximum allowed. It must reach the bar of 35 million euros in order to regain financial balance, before hoping to target 39 million euros in 2030.
The fund raising officially launched this Monday by the famous Duralex glass factory, taken over by its employees in July 2024 but not yet taken from business, has already raised several million euros thanks to the promise of attractive returns, despite the inherent risk of this type of investment.
The brand, known for its reputedly unbreakable dishes, had almost disappeared in April 2024, before being taken over as a cooperative by its employees a few weeks later.
The purchase of the company Duralex by its employees in July 2024 will not have been enough to ensure its survival. To survive, the French flagship must now rise to the 36 million euros mark of turnover by the end of the year. It lacks five. To find the funds in record time, its leaders launched a crowdfunding campaign on 3 November.
