RUIDOSO, NEW MEXICO, JUL 17 – Rescue teams safely extracted a dump truck driver trapped in high water in Ruidoso's Sleepy Hollow area with no injuries reported, officials said.
- In Sleepy Hollow, rescue crews saved a dump truck driver from high water, according to a village spokesperson.
- This month’s heavy rains led to recurring flooding in Ruidoso, and Thursday’s thunderstorms triggered additional flash floods, according to officials.
- The rescue crew walked into high water, saved the man from inside the dump truck, and first responders returned to their prepositioned location.
- Per the village spokesperson, prepositioned crews including Ruidoso Assistant Fire Chief, Ruidoso FD Engine 3 and Utah Swift Water Rescue Task Force responded on foot after an early-afternoon call from Sleepy Hollow.
- Across Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs, flood watches continue almost daily, and a flash flood warning remains in effect through Thursday afternoon, highlighting ongoing flood risks.
