Dudinha leads Wave to 2-1 win over rival Angel City
Dudinha scored and set up the winner as San Diego moved within one point of the NWSL lead.
On Saturday, San Diego Wave FC defeated Angel City FC 2-1 at BMO Stadium in front of 17,169 fans, with Dudinha scoring and assisting in the victory.
Angel City FC has now dropped four consecutive games after starting the 2026 season with three straight victories, intensifying pressure on the young squad.
Dudinha's 49th-minute goal was equalized five minutes later by Angel City defender Emily Sams, but rookie defender Mimi Van Zanten headed in the 81st-minute winner for the Wave.
Wave assistant Becki Tweed managed the team with Jonas Eidevall suspended due to a red card, while Angel City coach Alex Straus said, "The goals that we let in... it's tough."
Angel City faces the Portland Thorns on the road today, while the Wave and Angel City will meet again on July 11 at Snapdragon Stadium for their next rivalry clash.
