DSS: How We Arrested Terror Suspect Who Threatened to Kill Students, Teachers in Abuja Schools

DSS said the suspect was arrested in Benue State after schools reported SMS threats to kill students and teachers and destroy property.

  • On Friday, Department of State Services operative Michael Jego testified at the Federal High Court in Abuja that investigators tracked and apprehended John Jude Agbo, who allegedly "threatened to attack the schools and kill both students and teachers."
  • The investigation began after petitions in 2024 from Premier International School, The Regent Secondary School, and Oakland International British School regarding threatening text messages sent to students and staff.
  • Operatives deployed forensics to track Agbo to Otukpo in Benue State, where they arrested him and recovered a Techno Android phone allegedly used to transmit the threats.
  • Agbo, arraigned March 17 on two counts under the Terrorism Act 2022, admitted during his interview that he was "part of those that composed the text messages."
  • Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the trial to May 12 after defense lawyer Hamza Dantani cross-examined Jego, noting the original petitions did not name the defendant.
