Drug Trafficking: NDLEA Warns Nigerians Against Accepting Consignments From Abroad
NDLEA said 27 parcels of Colorado weighing 32.20kg were intercepted from the United Kingdom, while at least seven suspects were arrested in Lagos.
- On Sunday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency warned Nigerians against accepting packages from relatives abroad, citing a trend of illicit drugs like Colorado and Loud concealed in consolidated cargoes sent from overseas.
- NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi reported that traffickers are concealing narcotics inside music speakers and loaves of bread, with operatives intercepting shipments at Lagos motor parks and along the Zaria-Kano-Hadejia road.
- Agents seized 669.425kg of pregabalin in Kano, destroyed 4,832.56kg of skunk in Edo forests, and recovered 876kg of cannabis in Bayelsa and 157,100 capsules of tramadol in Plateau State.
- Authorities arrested at least seven suspects connected to the speaker shipments and detained real estate agent Abideen Jide Salami on Wednesday, September 9, after he arrived to collect luggage using a secret collection code.
- NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers and directed them to sustain efforts disrupting drug-trafficking routes through airports, seaports, land borders, and cannabis cultivation areas nationwide.
