Drug Counselor Who Delivered the Fatal Dose of Ketamine to Actor Matthew Perry Is up for Sentencing
Prosecutors seek 2 1/2 years for the licensed drug counselor, while defense lawyers ask for three months and treatment after his cooperation.
On Wednesday, licensed drug addiction counselor Erik Fleming faces sentencing in Los Angeles for distributing the ketamine that killed Matthew Perry, marking the fourth defendant sentenced in the case.
Fleming connected Perry to Jasveen Sangha, the drug dealer prosecutors called "The Ketamine Queen," and facilitated sales of 25 vials for $6,000 delivered to Perry's home for Kenneth Iwamasa.
Prosecutors seek 2 1/2 years in prison for Fleming, while defense lawyers request three months in prison and nine months in residential treatment, arguing he "has gone to extreme lengths to atone for his criminal conduct."
Kenneth Iwamasa is the final defendant scheduled for sentencing in two weeks, with Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett presiding, following another defendant's 15-year sentence handed down last month.
Perry, who died at 54, was a star on the NBC sitcom "Friends." An auction of his valuables and memorabilia will benefit the foundation established in his name to aid those struggling with addiction.
