Driver 'shouldn't be here' after crash with plane in B.C. speared rod through seat
Transportation Safety Board investigators are probing why the Beech King Air 200 landed on a road and struck two vehicles, leaving one driver dead.
On Friday, a Beech King Air made an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard in Prince George, British Columbia, striking two vehicles as it descended onto the road.
Witnesses described the aircraft as "speeding right towards us" before it crushed an SUV roof during its silent, emergency descent into traffic.
Jaime Pawliuk, who drove the struck vehicle, suffered only minor cuts when a thick metal rod pierced his Ford SUV roof; he said he "shouldn't be here."
Police confirmed the driver of the second vehicle struck by the plane died in the crash, marking one fatality from the emergency landing.
The Transportation Safety Board has deployed a team to investigate the wreckage and determine whether mechanical failure or other factors forced the aircraft onto the roadway.
