Stolen Car Driver Killed After Crashing Into Metro Bus in Kent, WA: Multiple Injuries
Three bus passengers were taken to a nearby hospital, and investigators said the SUV was likely speeding before the crash.
A stolen SUV driver died Wednesday, Sept. 16, after crashing into a King County Metro bus south of Kent near South 277th Street and 83rd Avenue South around 7 a.m.
KCSO Communications Manager Brandyn Hull stated the driver was alone and likely speeding, saying, "The car was a stolen car and likely hit the bus at a high rate of speed."
Three bus passengers were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the bus driver remained uninjured in the Route 160 collision.
The King County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Response Team is leading the investigation, though authorities have not identified the deceased driver or disclosed the vehicle's theft origin.
Route 160 buses were rerouted off Central Avenue South between South 277th and East Willis streets due to the investigation, with the crash site closed for several hours.
