UK police find cocaine worth $9.3 million stashed in a shipment of Kim Kardashian brand underwear
Konkel admitted he agreed to smuggle 90 kilograms of cocaine for 4,500 euros after Border Force found the drugs in a legitimate Skims load.
- Polish national Jakub Jan Konkel was sentenced on Monday to 13 years and six months in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court for smuggling Class A drugs into Britain.
- Border Force officers intercepted Konkel at the Port of Harwich last September, discovering 90kg of cocaine valued at around £7.2 million hidden in a lorry carrying 28 pallets of Skims clothing.
- The driver's tachograph revealed an undeclared 16-minute stop where drugs were loaded, and Konkel accepted a payment of 4,500 Euros for the smuggling operation.
- National Crime Agency operations manager Paul Orchard stated the detection removed significant cocaine profits from the crime group and eliminated an important enabler of their operations.
- Border Force Assistant Director Jason Thorn said, "We continue to work round the clock to relentlessly pursue criminality, protect our borders and keep these dangerous drugs off our streets.
