In the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), a Congolese boat from Burundi was intercepted on Thursday evening, 8 January, on Lake Tanganyika, off the territory of Fizi, in South Kivu. The intercept was carried out by the Wazalendo, militia allies to the Congolese army. This boat, Okako 2, was carrying goods that were seized and more than two hundred passengers on board.
