The government of Venezuela requested, this Wednesday, the release of frozen assets of the country abroad to help raise resources for reconstruction after the two earthquakes last month, which left at least 3,685 dead. Earlier, the United Nations issued an urgent appeal to raise US$ 296 million (about R$ 1.52 billion) in aid to the country.
Venezuela claimed the release of its frozen assets while the UN seeks more funds for the victims.
