Double decker hits south London theatre in two-bus crash
- On Wednesday, February 18, two double-decker buses collided on Newington Causeway at about 8.05am, involving a route 34 bus and a route 333 bus not in service.
- Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 8.06am and inquiries are ongoing with no arrests made.
- The London Ambulance Service confirmed that six people were taken to hospital while paramedics and the Hazardous Area Response Team treated patients at the scene, where one bus was pushed into Southwark Playhouse theatre.
- The road was closed in both directions while emergency services responded; the two buses remained visible on Newington Causeway around 10am and one was moved by 11.30am.
- Transport for London said safety is its top priority and is working with the police and Go Ahead London to establish what happened, with support available for anyone affected.

Pictures from the scene appeared to show one of the buses ended up very close to the window frontage of a theatre in south London. The other bus seemed to have crashed into the back of the vehicle.
