An elderly protester in Kiryat Shmona told the Democrat Party Chairman to 'remove his ranks.' Golan responded by physically confronting the man.

Golan arrived at the conference accompanied by MK Naama Lazimi, and was met at the entrance to the event hall where the conference was held by a number of residents who protested against his participation and sought to block his path. "You said things that shocked us," a city resident who documented the event scolded him, and another adult joined his words: "You have no place here. Get out of here."
