The South Korean branch of global chain Starbucks has cracked down on people who sit for long hours in its stores and use the spaces as offices or study rooms. It has also banned the connection of larger electronic devices and the installation of office partitions.
Some Starbucks customers have used branches in South Korea as their own home office and occupied the seats there. Now those in charge are fighting back.
It's very common to come across teleworkers in cafes, but some sometimes get comfortable, so much so that Starbucks has decided to crack down in South Korea: it is now forbidden to install monitors and even... printers.
