I had the privilege of attending the premiere of the "Don Giovanni" of Mozart at the Basilica of Maxentius, staged from 20 to 25 July, L'opera, as I stated in a long essay published in the collective volume The divine prisoners curated by Andrea Panzavolta (The Polygraph), and consulted in part on Indian Nation, is for me simply a demonstration of the existence of God. Imagine my expectations.
After modernizations of "Don Giovanni," it feels refreshing to have an opera set in its time, and the young ensemble excels in exquisite performances. But that important keys to Mozart's whole have been hijacked is a mystery, writes Camilla Lundberg.
