Dolly Parton's Brother, Coy 'Denver' Parton, Has Died at Age 82
The Tennessee native was a crane operator, farmer and hunter, and his obituary says services will be private.
Coy 'Denver' Parton, Dolly Parton's older brother, died at age 82 on July 23. The Tennessee native worked as a crane operator, homestead farmer, and ardent hunter, according to an online obituary.
Born in Sevier County, Tennessee, Denver Parton and his sister, Dolly Parton, were two of 12 children raised by Avie Lee Owens Parton and Robert Lee Parton. The close-knit family background shaped their lives.
Described as 'perhaps the most private' in a 2025 article, Denver Parton was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Parton, and four brothers, including singer Randy Parton. He leaves behind two daughters and seven sisters.
According to the obituary, services for Denver Parton will be private. Online condolences may be made through Atchley Funeral Home, which is handling the arrangements.
The death comes as Dolly Parton faces her own health struggles; she canceled Las Vegas concerts in May and said doctors are 'working real hard on rebuilding and strengthening' her immune system. The family has endured multiple recent losses.
