‘A Lot of Responsibility’: QB Dolegala Takes the Reins as Ticats Visit Roughriders
Dolegala has a 2-9 career CFL record and will start as Bo Levi Mitchell recovers from a broken left ankle.
On Sunday, Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach Scott Milanovich named Jake Dolegala the starting quarterback against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, replacing the injured Levi Mitchell.
Mitchell suffered a broken left ankle during a 14-13 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on July 5; he underwent surgery on July 6 and faces an uncertain return this season.
Milanovich selected Dolegala over Tre Ford because " just has more experience with what we're doing right now," emphasizing the need for familiarity during the transition.
Conversely, the Riders will welcome back running back Ouellette after he missed two games with an ankle injury, with Ouellette stating, "It's great to know that I'll be out there."
Dolegala plans to stay within his game, noting Mitchell advised him: "Mentally, I've just got to go out there and stay within myself, don't try to be a hero and do my thing.
