SPLC Vows to Fight Federal Charges, Claims They Are Politically Motivated
The indictment alleges the group used informants and fake accounts to hide payments and funneled more than $3 million to extremist groups, officials said.

- Prosecutors claim the organization funneled $1,000,000 to The National Alliance, $300,000 to an informant with The National Socialist Movement and Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club, and $270,000 to the online group that helped plan the Unite the Right rally.
- Interim President and CEO Bryan Fair stated the SPLC stopped using paid informants, though he defended the method as life-saving, while Rep. Chip Roy labeled the organization a "political weapon masquerading as a public interest watchdog."
- Maya Wiley, president of the Leadership Conference, called the charges politically motivated, arguing the Trump Administration is weaponizing the federal government to intimidate civil rights advocates.
