Hamad International Rolls Out Biometric Travel Across 700 Touchpoints
The service links more than 700 touchpoints and lets passengers use facial recognition at check-in, bag drop, security and boarding, airport officials said.
- Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways, in partnership with technology company SITA, launched a biometric 'Fast Pass' service in Doha, enabling passengers to use facial recognition for a 'more paperless departure journey.'
- Described as 'one of the largest biometric passenger rollouts of its kind in the Middle East and globally,' the system connects more than 700 touchpoints into a single trusted journey with security built into every step.
- Currently available at bag drop 1 through 4, security gates 9 and 10, and boarding gates in Concourses A, B and C, the service reflects accelerating biometric adoption with 85% of passengers reporting satisfaction in the 2025 Global Passenger Survey.
- HIA confirmed designated checkpoints only use facial detection to 'verify enrollment in the biometric programme,' with data deleted immediately for non-enrolled individuals. Passengers can register via the Qatar Airways app or self-service kiosks.
- Fast Pass will continue to expand across additional touchpoints in the near future, working with technology partners to progressively enhance the overall journey with capability available to other interested airlines operating from HIA.
