50 Dogs and Cats From Texas Shelters Arrive to Massachusetts MSPCA to Be Adopted

TEXAS, NORTHEASTERN AND MIDWESTERN UNITED STATES, JUL 12 – More than 100 dogs and cats rescued from Texas floods are being relocated to shelters in the Northeast and Midwest to ease overcrowding and support adoption efforts.

  • On July 11, 2025, the MSPCA-Angell received approximately 50 dogs and cats, with the flight arranged by the Bissell Pet Foundation to Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts.
  • After storms displaced people and pets, flooding in the Hill Country of Texas overwhelmed local shelters, prompting relocation flights, said authorities.
  • The rescue flight carried 30 dogs, ages three months to six years, including breeds such as terriers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Alaskan Husky mixes.
  • On Sunday, PAWS Chicago hosted its 12th annual Angels With Tails event, partnering with five rescue groups to find homes for over 50 animals.
  • The MSPCA-Angell plans fee-waived adoption events later this month, and animals could be ready for adoption within the week, said Ashley Podjasek, PAWS Chicago media relations associate.
