Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Has ‘Positive Day’ Throwing to Hitters
- Shohei Ohtani threw a 29-pitch bullpen session including two simulated innings against minor-league hitters on Saturday in Los Angeles while rehabbing elbow surgery.
- Ohtani's rehab follows elbow surgery last September and shoulder surgery during the previous World Series, which delayed his full pitching return this season.
- Ohtani also homered twice in a Dodgers win against the New York Yankees less than 24 hours before the bullpen session, showcasing his elite offensive skills.
- Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, " came out of it well, which is most important," and pitching coach Mark Prior noted Ohtani's fastball touched 97 mph.
- The Dodgers have not set a firm timetable for Ohtani's starting rotation return but Roberts suggested a comeback around late May or near the All-Star break.
