Hawaii’s fatal distracted driving crashes average 1.56 per 100,000 residents, nearly 53% above the national rate, highlighting a growing traffic safety concern.

A study released last month found Hawaii has the sixth-highest rate of fatal crashes caused by distracting driving among U.S. states.
