Disney’s Hollywood Studios to open new animation experience
ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA, JUL 22 – The archway removal enables a refreshed Animation Courtyard with new interactive exhibits, character meet-and-greets, and a family-friendly playground opening in 2026.
- Animation Courtyard’s archway will be demolished starting September 25, 2025, to clear space for The Magic of Disney Animation.
- Originally reading “Disney-MGM Studios,” the archway served as a secondary icon for years, and in recent years it was rebranded with the 2019 Disney’s Hollywood Studios logo.
- Despite these closures, Animation Courtyard, Star Wars: Launch Bay, and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close September 25, 2025, with the Launch Bay building reimagined with a Sorcerer Hat.
- While some fans feel nostalgic about the arch’s removal, many are vocal about the overhaul, and others eagerly await how The Magic of Disney Animation will be integrated.
- Looking ahead to 2026, The Walt Disney Studios will replace Animation Courtyard and celebrate Walt Disney Animation Studios’ heritage, with the experience inspired by the Emmy Award-winning short Once Upon a Studio.
