37.8 degrees in May? In France, people are sweating at the highest levels, which experts call "historic." Weather service gives a warning.
On 28 May, "the warmest day of this episode on a scale from France" according to Météo France, some stations have found values that have not yet been reached for this period, such as 37.2 °C at Perpignan, 36.6 °C at Bordeaux 36.6 °C or 36 °C at Niort.
Such a level of heat had never been measured in May since the beginning of the surveys.
The heat wave is expected to continue this Friday, with 14 departments kept on heat orange alert. Mercury is expected to begin to fall this weekend.
