Togo Releases Two French Journalists Detained Since July

Two French filmmakers who had been imprisoned in Togo were released on bail on September 2nd and transferred to France this Thursday. The African country had accused them of making false statements, arranging their trip irregularly, and flying a drone in an unsafe area of the country where the government is battling jihadist groups. Our journalist Erika Olavarría has more details.
The two men and their Togolese collaborator Fred Vedomey, arrested at the end of July, were accused of false statements and of not being in a position to carry out their mission, particularly in the north of the country, a region plagued by incursions by jihadist fighters.
Gaël Mocaër and Sebastian Perez Pezzani, arrested at the end of July during a film of the show "The impossible roads", landed on Thursday in Paris after obtaining provisional freedom.
"We were faced with something quite disproportionate in terms of legal proceedings," adds Thibaut Bruttin, Thursday on France Inter.
