Turks in northern Greece held pending trial for smuggling weapons

A Greek court has ruled that 12 Turks arrested in northern Greece on accusations of participating in an international criminal group smuggling weapons into the country should be detained pending trial, legal sources said on Thursday.
Seven of the remaining 13 Turkish nationals who are charged with illegal entry to Greece and possession of firearms were sent back to jail after their testimonies on Wednesday, joining the other six who were detained pending trial on Tuesday.
From tomorrow until Wednesday, the 13 Turks charged with a felony will be brought before the Alexandroupolis investigator, as a large number of weapons and magazines were found in their possession. The authorities found another 25 weapons in the possession of another Turk who was arrested in Xanthi and taken to the prosecutor's office.
