This morning, extensive searches in several areas of the country, in a dossier aimed at a suspected network of commercial and technical operations with machines that could be used in the manufacture of weapons and ammunition. The persons concerned would have prepared the transfer of a machine of approximately 1.8 million euros to an entity in Belarus under the sanctions of the European Union.
DIICOT is conducting extensive searches in several locations in Bucharest and the country this morning. Representatives of Romanian companies have been targeted in violation of the embargo imposed at European level on Russia and Belarus. They have exported dual-use industrial machinery from Germany and Kazakhstan, including military.
The Romanian Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation Department (DIICOT) is investigating a criminal case concerning the circumvention of sanctions and the supply of dual-use goods to Belarus. On 30 September, DIICOT prosecutors and officials of the Organized Crime Office conducted 12 searches of residential buildings in Bucharest and other cities.
