Cloud, AI, data infrastructure: Germany and France define tougher criteria for digital sovereignty. They want to give the European Union the direction.
With a new definition and six core areas along with criteria, Germany and France are driving Europe's digital independence forward in concrete terms.
To agree on operational criteria specifying a vague term would, according to both countries, be a way of taking action. Their definition remains open to foreign actors because the objective is not isolation, explained two ministers at the VivaTech show in Paris on 17 June.
