Fire brigades, open access roads to bulldozers, ignition of tactical lights... In the Drôme, where more than 3,000 hectares have burned, firefighting is made difficult by the rugged terrain and the need to distribute air assets among the various affected areas.
The fire that broke out a week ago in a mountainous area above Die (Drôme) increased slightly during the night, reaching 3,000 hectares travelled, compared to 2,800 on Wednesday at the end of the day, the firefighters said.

The major fire in Die, which was still progressing this Wednesday evening, July 8, had travelled, at nightfall, nearly 3,000 hectares. Under particularly difficult conditions, more than 400 firefighters continue their fight, on the ground, to protect the houses. They will be reinforced by soldiers on Thursday, July 9.
About 400 people were evacuated to the Drôme. The prefect ordered it on Thursday 9 July, while the fire in a mountainous area over Die covered about 3,500 hectares and the fire was reactive in some areas.
