Three Foreigners Among 19 Killed in Nepal Bus Crash

Before dawn on Monday, a passenger bus plunged 200 metres near Bhaisigauda in Dhading, killing 19 people on the Prithvi Highway.
The vehicle veered off the Prithvi Highway and fell 200 metres to the banks of the Trishuli River, highlighting risks on mountainous roads in Nepal where hundreds die annually.
Officials said the bus carried 44 passengers with 25 injured; 24 receive treatment in Kathmandu, 14 at National Trauma Centre and 10 at National Hospital, Kalanki, including a New Zealander and a Chinese national.
The Home Ministry constituted a five-member task force coordinated by a joint secretary to conduct a detailed probe and submit a report after the bus crash.
Local residents assisted security forces and helped lead rescuers to the crash site during the pre-dawn operation, finding passengers scattered and the bus broken into pieces and upside down.
