Dettol and Durex boss warns UK shoppers prices will rise this year
The maker of Dettol and Durex said moderate increases will apply brand by brand as it tries to offset higher input costs.
Reckitt Benckiser announced global price increases to offset rising costs linked to conflict in the Middle East, with rollouts already underway in emerging markets, Europe, and American regions.
Chief executive Kris Licht explained "moderate" price increases apply "on a brand by brand and product by product basis" for household brands like Dettol and Durex.
Sales for core brands rose 4.2 per cent in the second quarter, and the company maintained its full-year revenue growth forecast of 4 to 5 per cent, helping shares rise more than 5 per cent.
Despite strong sales, underlying operating profit fell 14.3 per cent to £1.47 billion for the six-month period, following the sale of a 70 per cent stake in Cillit Bang and Calgon.
Management expects reduced input cost impacts in 2026 as oil prices have recently moderated; a new share buyback scheme worth up to £500 million follows a completed £1 billion programme earlier this year.
