Serbia extends detention of suspects in connection with Novi Sad accident

The court today extended detention for 30 days for most of the suspects in connection with the collapse of a canopy at a railway station in Novi Sad, which killed 15 people. Among them are former Serbian transport minister Goran Vesić and former leader of Serbian railways Nebojsa Šurlan, foreign news agencies report.

Sodišče je danes za 30 dni podaljšalo pripor za večino osumljenih v zvezi z zrušenjem nadstreška na železniški postaji v Novem Sadu, ki je terjalo 15 smrtnih žrtev. Med njimi sta nekdanji srbski minister za promet Goran Vesić in nekdanji vodilni na srbskih železnicah Nebojša Šurlan, poročajo tuje tiskovne agencije.

The High Court in Novi Sad ordered the detention of up to 30 days to the Minister of Construction Goran Vesić and the former Director of Infrastructure of the Railway of Serbia Nebojsa Šurlana, while the Acting Director of the Infrastructure of the Railway of Serbia Jelena Tanaskovic and the Assistant Minister for Railway Transport Aniti Dimovski were given house arrest with electronic surveillance.
