300 million euros per year are now being spent on renovation, while previously we allocated 30 million euros for this purpose.
It has been two years since the worst floods in Slovenia, which caused almost three billion euros in direct damage. "We have already allocated a total of 1.174 billion euros for reconstruction," explained Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič.
The government reshuffle, which brought, among other things, the establishment of two new ministries – economy and energy – has sparked mixed reactions in the business community.
A lot of work has been done in the two years since the August 2023 floods, but it is not yet complete, officials said as the second anniversary of the event approaches. In the future, more demanding restoration projects on watercourses and landslides will be at the forefront, and a comprehensive change in systemic legislation is also planned to make it easier to deal with similar events.
