Despite legal challenge, Florida college votes again to transfer land for Trump presidential library
Miami Dade College approved transferring 2.6 acres for Trump’s library despite a lawsuit alleging violation of open meeting laws and 74% local opposition, a poll found.
- Miami Dade College trustees at Hialeah convened and voted Tuesday to transfer more than two-and-a-half acres on Biscayne Boulevard to the state for President Donald Trump’s presidential library.
- Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mabel Ruiz temporarily blocked the initial transfer last month after finding likely Sunshine Law violations, and a lawsuit by Marvin Dunn led to a trial scheduled for next August.
- With more than 100 people present, the meeting started around 8 a.m. and the vote occurred around 12:40 p.m., after over three-and-a-half hours of comment.
- The parcel is currently used as an employee parking lot and is valued at $67 million, with Miami Dade College receiving no compensation, raising donor trust concerns as 74% of Miami‑Dade County voters oppose the plan.
- The Florida Cabinet previously donated the roughly 2.6-acre waterfront parcel next to the Kaseya Center and across from the Freedom Tower to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation, led by Eric Trump, Michael Boulos and James Kiley, for the 17th Presidential Library.
