Described as Basketball on Grass, Brennan Marion’s Fast-Paced 'Go-Go' Offense Arrives at Colorado
Brennan Marion’s scheme helped UNLV average more than 35 points per game in 2024 and is aimed at reviving Colorado’s stagnant run attack.
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, first-year Colorado offensive coordinator Brennan Marion began installing his Go-Go Offense to revitalize the team's run game. The scheme features unbalanced formations designed to highlight young quarterback Julian Lewis's talents.
Marion, formerly of Sacramento State, literally wrote the 68-page guide titled Go-Go Offense. Longtime coach Gus Malzahn, who mentored Marion at Tulsa, wrote the book's introduction.
Players describe the high-tempo system as backyard football, favoring freedom over rigid routes. The offense relies on orchestrated misdirection, with running backs lined up side-by-side to create confusion.
The Buffaloes hope this innovation unlocks a run game that has lacked a 100-yard rusher since Alex Fontenot went for 108 on November 11, 2022. Running back DeKalon Taylor said the system 'takes me back to being a little kid.'
Coach Deion Sanders praised Marion's ability to get playmakers the ball, though he avoids calling him a 'genius' to maintain accountability. The team aims to improve upon last season's 20.9 points per game average.
