The Minister for Foreign Affairs today announced the death of a compatriot in the tragedy that took place on Wednesday evening in Portugal.
"We have confirmation of the death of one of our compatriots in the tragic accident" in Lisbon, said Mr Barrot, in a message posted on X. The last assessment of the Portuguese authorities was made on Thursday evening to 16 dead and five seriously injured.
The derailment of the funicular resulted in 16 deaths on Wednesday evening, 11 of them foreigners, according to the last elements of the investigation delivered on Friday noon by the Portuguese authorities.
