Search for Bear that Mauled Wisconsin Woman Ends
BARRON COUNTY, WISCONSIN, JUL 28 – After two weeks of trapping and monitoring, officials failed to locate the bear involved in the attack but will continue surveillance to ensure public safety, the DNR said.
- On July 28, 2025, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources concluded its two-week trap effort, releasing two boar bears, two yearlings, and two sows unrelated to the attack.
- Following the assault, the DNR, Barron County Sheriff's Office and USDA Wildlife Services deployed live-traps and game cameras on her property.
