Riot police intervened in a protest against an asylum seekers' center in Houten. At the time, there were still around one hundred protesters at the town hall; earlier in the evening, there were at least three hundred demonstrators.
Demonstrations against asylum centers were held last night in Houten and Uithoorn. In both places, the protesters became violent, prompting police to intervene and arrest several people. The mayor of Uithoorn was clear afterward: "We will not be swayed by the loudest or most vehement voices."
