Democrats and candidates met May 1 in Pratt - Tri-County Tribune

On May 1, 1886, hundreds of thousands of American workers went on strike to demand shorter hours. From that early protest sprung International Worker’s Day, celebrated today in over 80 countries including most of Europe. These celebrations revolve around the ongoing push for fair wages, safer working conditions, and the dignity of the working class.
