- A House Ethics Committee subcommittee found 25 counts of alleged violations proven "by clear and convincing evidence" on Friday, Representative Michael Guest, a Mississippi Republican who chairs the committee, said in a statement.
- Federal prosecutors indicted Cherfilus-McCormick in November on charges of stealing COVID-19 relief funds directed to her 2021 campaign, though she has previously denied wrongdoing.
- Himes warned "if she doesn't resign, there will be a vote in the House," while other lawmakers including Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez have also called for her resignation.
- Citing former Representative George Santos's expulsion for fraud, Himes emphasized both parties must "be consistent in punishing ethical lapses." The full Ethics Committee will recommend sanctions after the April recess.
