Over 18,000 Fuel Bottles Recalled Due to Flash Fire Hazard
Demlar recalls 18,200 ethanol fuel bottles sold on Amazon due to flash fire risk; consumers must mark containers and submit photos for refunds, CPSC said.
- Demlar issued a recall of about 18,200 MoonSoll- and Magic Chems-branded ethanol and bioethanol fuel bottles on November 20, 2025, per a Consumer Product Safety Commission notice from Washington, D.C.
- CPSC officials warned that the recalled bottles may potentially cause a deadly flash fire hazard and violate the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act by lacking required flame mitigation devices.
- Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled bottles, mark them 'Do not use' with their Amazon order number, and email a photo to info@demlar.com, Demlar says.
- Retail data show the bottles were sold on Amazon from May to July 2025 for between $16 and $32, and no injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC recall notice.
- CPSC officials also flagged that the fuel containers' "Non-Toxic" labeling violates Federal Hazardous Substances Act rules and the products breach portable fuel-container safety standards.
