Delivery Hero CEO Niklas Östberg to Stay Amid Uber Takeover
The contract extension keeps Niklas Östberg in place as Uber’s $14.8 billion takeover advances, with closing expected in the second half of 2027.
- On Thursday, Delivery Hero announced that co-founder and CEO Niklas will remain in his role beyond March 31, 2027, reversing a leadership transition plan the German company had set in May.
- Uber's pending takeover offer, valued at $14.8 billion, created a "fundamentally different set of circumstances" that necessitated retaining leadership, Delivery Hero said.
- Supervisory board chair Kristin Skogen Lund stated the board is "delighted to have Niklas continue leading the company," with his contract now extending through April 30, 2029.
- Earlier this month, Delivery Hero's management and supervisory boards endorsed the takeover bid and urged shareholders to accept it, with the deal expected to close in the second half of 2027 pending regulatory approvals.
- Niklas said "Our Everyday App strategy is working, and growth and profitability are accelerating," adding he is "more energized than ever to continue leading the company" into this phase.
