In a video shared on social media, Brittas said the police have failed to consider the age and health condition of Vijayan, an 82-year-old veteran communist leader, while handling him after the detention.
Former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was taken into custody by the police while protesting in Delhi demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner. He was kept in a vehicle for three and a half hours and was deprived of food and medicine.
