Del Monte closure leaves California cling peach growers reeling

California’s cling peach growers are harvesting a smaller crop this summer as the industry adjusts to the loss of Del Monte Foods’ Modesto cannery, leaving Pacific Coast Producers as the state’s only major processor, according to a report by Ag Alert.  The closure, which followed Del Monte’s bankruptcy earlier this year, has hit growers in the Yuba-Sutter region particularly hard.
