Defense to get protected data in Geisinger data breach case but keep it private

WILLIAMSPORT — The defense for the California man charged in the 2023 Geisinger Health System data breach will receive private protected information about more than 1 million patients. But, it has agreed to keep private the electronic files containing information that includes patients’ name, date of birth, address, admit and discharge code, medical record number, race, gender, phone number and care location.
