Deep Purple’s 'Rapture of the Deep' Getting 20th Anniversary Reissue
- Deep Purple announced an expanded 20th anniversary reissue and remix of their 2005 album Rapture of the Deep, releasing it August 29 worldwide on vinyl, CD, and digital formats.
- The reissue follows the original 2005 release created during a challenging period when the band lacked a record company and felt “a bit lost,” as bassist Roger Glover explained.
- This edition includes a new mix overseen by Glover, analog mastering at Chameleon Studios, updated artwork, and a bonus disc with five unreleased studio jams and rehearsals.
- The bonus material includes the debut release of "Closing Note," an instrumental piece performed by Steve Morse on guitar, created during the original album sessions when the lineup featured Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, and Don Airey.
- The reissue highlights an overlooked album that began a run culminating in four consecutive No. 1 albums from 2013 to 2024 and offers rare studio insights via liner notes by rock writer Geoff Barton.
