Decorated ex-Rangers man lands third-tier role and says he's been preparing 'for many years'
Aaron Ramsey has been appointed head coach of Sky Bet League One club Oxford United, succeeding Matt Bloomfield, who was dismissed following the club's relegation from the Sky Bet Championship.
The veteran of 86 caps for Wales enjoyed a distinguished career with Arsenal, Juventus, and Rangers, securing three FA Cups, a Serie A title, Coppa Italia, and the Scottish Cup.
Ramsey has gained management experience with the Welsh national team and as interim manager for Cardiff City, with his coaching staff details expected soon.
"It's an honour and privilege to be appointed head coach of Oxford," Ramsey stated, aiming to "bring a culture of high standards, professionalism and work ethic to this talented group of players."
Drawing on experience under "some of the best managers in the game," the new coach intends to implement "elite habits, with a commitment to improving every day" and a squad that fights for the badge.
