WSG Brands Acquires Nasty Gal, Ushering in a New Era for the Iconic Fashion Brand
WSG Brands said it will expand Nasty Gal through wholesale, licensing and new categories including denim, footwear and beauty.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, WSG Brands announced its acquisition of Nasty Gal, the women's fashion brand known for bold attitude and unapologetic style, with plans to expand its global footprint and product categories.
Debenhams sold the women's fashion brand for $16 million as part of turnaround efforts to return the business to a profit by disposing of non-core assets and strengthening its balance sheet.
Boohoo previously purchased Nasty Gal for $20 million after the brand filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, marking a downturn for the label originally founded by American entrepreneur Sophia Amoruso.
"Gal has an incredibly strong identity," said Jack Cheika, Founder and CEO of WSG Brands, noting plans to introduce the brand to a new generation of consumers while maintaining its core attitude.
Expansion plans include denim, footwear, beauty, and additional lifestyle categories through multi-channel distribution; details on Nasty Gal's product roadmap and partnerships will be announced in the coming months.
